The artwork shows the connection between life and death. The skull symbolises death, whereas the plant symbolises life. The skull is dark with no colours while the plant is bright and vibrant which creates a contrast between the two elements in the image. The pink lilies are used to represent friendship, wealth and prosperity. It’s said that these lilies at funerals symbolise that “the soul of the departed has received restored innocence after death.”
